July

The summer heat wave is here. Stay cool and hydrated. Be sure to check on you elderly neighbors. Hurricane season is also in full effect. Make sure you are prepared with items listed in a hurricane kit, such as flashlights, batteries, water, propane, charcoal, and an outdoor grill. Don’t forget about a plan for your pets (food and shelter). You can find a complete lists at ready.gov/kit. Parts of this neighborhood are prone to flooding, so be sure to carry flood insurance. Home insurance will not cover floods. Hope to see everyone at the meeting.

May

Hi again, and if you are new to the neighborhood, welcome. We have had the privilege to have a few local representatives come to our meetings. We’ve had Sallie Alcorn, City Council At-Large Position 5 and State Representative Mary Ann Perez, in the past year. We hope to invite our newly elected Houston City Councilman, District E, Fred Flickinger to a future meeting. It is important to attend these meetings so we can ask questions and they can see we are involved in keeping our neighborhood clean and safe. Hope to see everyone at the meeting.

March

Spring is near, let’s take advantage of this nice weather and go outside more; go for a walk, plant some flowers, trees or vegetables. We are fortunate enough to live near a beach, lake or state park. We also have some of the best museums (art and history) in the nation. Our zoo is nice and big and there are plenty of festivals at this time of year. Search for pop-up markets and support local businesses. If you are into sports, now is great time to play golf, go fishing, or any other sport. The main this is, take advantage of this weather before the summer heat wave. Hope to see everyone at the meeting.

January

Happy New Year! We hope you had a pleasant 2023 and your 2024 is even better. This year we look forward to the design and construction of the stormwater drainage and paving improvements, and necessary utility upgrades to our neighborhood. We also look forward to a precedential and congressional elections. As always, we strive to get along with our neighbors since we never know when we will need their help in a time of need. We look forward to seeing more of you at our bi-monthly meetings to hear your ideas for improving our neighborhood.
