It can be a bit confusing to figure out when heavy trash days and recycling days occur and you sure don’t want to miss them — at least not too many times in a row! Here is a handy chart to help you determine when to put out your heavy trash, tree limbs and recycling bins.
Normal trash pick-up (black can) is every Thursday for Arlington Heights. Please remember to place your can in the street. Vehicles parked too close will prohibit pick-up so be considerate of your neighbors and move your vehicles out of the way. Lawn clippings and leaves placed in non-approved trash bags will not be
picked up by the City. Approved bio-degradable bags can be purchased from your local stores.
Heavy trash is picked up the second Tuesday of every month. Odd months (January, March, May, July, September and November) are for tree waste (clean wood, tree limbs, branches, stumps, and approved bags of leaves). Even months (February, April, June, August, October and December) are for actual heavy trash (furniture, appliances, bulky materials, treated wood, nails, metal).
Recycling (green can) occurs on alternate Thursdays in each month. We will post a monthly calendar listing each Thursday that is a day you should put your recycling bin out for collection.
